UPDATE: THEY DID IT AGAIN! PROMISES MADE, PROMISES BROKEN!
HERE’S WHAT YOU CAN DO!

ALL RELIGIOUS EXEMPTION BILLS FOR OUR CHILDREN ARE D E A D!

1) Lt Governor Delbert Hosemann made promises that a Religious Exemption for children would be passed this year, but he KILLED Religious Liberty, yet again!

CALL HOSEMANN’S OFFICE TODAY, THEN EMAIL!
Hosemann
(601) 359-3200
ltgov@senate.ms.gov

Let Hosemann know your displeasure at his perpetual failure to expand Religious Freedom in Mississippi.

———————
***11AM CRITICAL UPDATE!***
We are getting reports that Hosemann’s office is deflecting to the House, saying he had nothing to do with our Religious Exemption bill, authored by Sen Angela Hill, being killed. TO BE CLEAR: Hosemann’s has been promising for a year that he would pass a religious exemption in the Senate. We had TWO religious exemptions in the SENATE Education Cmte. This was NOT about House bills.

Hosemann is running for Lt Governor again. He needs to know that we gave him FOUR YEARS to pass a religious exemption and he didn’t get it done. We got word shortly after he became Lt Governor, that “an exemption wouldn’t pass on his watch.”

He has held true to that, and we need to hold him accountable.

2.) Gunn is not seeking re-election, but if you would still like to let him know how you feel about the past 12 years of his tyrannical reign in the House of Representatives, you can call and email him, here:

Following immense pressure last session, Mississippi Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann has reportedly been promising to pass our religious vaccine exemption for children in 2023.  However, we hear that he and Speaker Gunn are now colluding to block Religious Freedom, yet again.

Critical – Petition to All Senators and Hosemann : Redistricting Should Not Be Weaponized!
They Stood for Medical Freedom, Now We Stand for Them!

LT. GOV. HOSEMANN WEAPONIZES REDISTRICTING TO PUNISH SENATORS WHO STOOD FOR RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS TO VACCINE MANDATES

——————–

CLICK HERE TO SIGN THE PETITION to send an email to all MS Senators and Lt. Gov. Hosemann, today!

Tell the Senate not to support any redistricting plan that harms or eliminates our Republican senators who stood for medical freedom.
——————–

WEAPONIZING REDISTRICTING FOR VENGEANCE IS NOT OKAY

Senator McDaniel explains in this article, that Delbert Hosemann is attempting to use redistricting to eliminate conservative Republicans in 2023.

Hosemann is targeting some of the fifteen Republican senators who stood up boldly for Senator McDaniel’s amendment to HB1509.

McDaniel’s amendment would have provided a religious exemption to vaccine mandates for all Mississippians.

Every Democrat in the Senate voted with Delbert Hosemann against McDaniel’s amendment. Other Republicans voted with Hosemann, but many are saying they would have been punished if they had not.

Fifteen morally courageous senators stood for the people, knowing they would face political punishment. It is now time for us to stand for them.

Now Lt Gov Hosemann is Punishing Senators Who Fought for Religious Liberty – Hosemann MUST Hear From You Today!

On March 9th, Lt Gov Hosemann sided with a Democrat on the Senate Floor, who stood in objection to Sen McDaniel’s proposed amendment to HB1509.

——————–
TELL HOSEMANN: “Stop punishing conservatives who stood for our religious freedom by threatening to redistrict them.”

601.359.3200
ltgov@senate.ms.gov

——————–

McDaniel’s amendment would have expanded the bill’s religious exemption so that it would codify exemptions to vaccine mandates for all Mississippians. Hosemann ruled that it was not germane and refused to let the Senate discuss and vote on the amendment.

McDaniel appealed Hosemann’s decision to the whole Senate body by calling for a vote on the record. Fourteen Republicans chose to stand for religious freedom and against Hosemann’s ruling. The moral courage they displayed that day both encouraged and inspired grass roots Mississippians who packed the balconies in support of the amendment.

Following their heroic stand against Hosemann’s ruling, the 15 senators were chastised by the Lt Gov and his staff. Several of the senators are being pressured and threatened as a direct result of their open disagreement with Hosemann on the amendment that day.

The state is now finishing up its process of legislative redistricting following the 2020 census. Hosemann has made it clear that some of the 15 senators that stood for our amendment that day may have their political careers destroyed by gerrymandering .

Time To Thank the Heroes!

MPVR’S THANK YOU CAMPAIGN
Thank the heroes, today!

Hosemann has chastised and threatened to punish our 15 heroes who stood for Religious Freedom.

Our amendment for a religious exemption was not added to HB1509 in the Senate as we’d hoped, but we got something just as important! With the help of our amendment champion, Senator Chris McDaniel, we have exposed the enemies of Religious Freedom. We now know which of our senators will stand for Religious Freedom, even when it costs them, and which ones will cow to the anti-religious freedom leadership of Lt Governor, Delbert Hosemann.

Find out more about historic conflict in the Senate, including pics, videos, and radio interview synopsis, click HERE.

WHAT WE MUST DO, NOW!

Please take a moment to call and send a short message to each of our Religious Freedom heroes. This move has cost them dearly and we need to let them know they have our gratitude and support! IF YOU ARE THEIR CONSTITUENT, PLEASE LET THEM KNOW.

Dear Senator___,

Thank you for standing up for religious exemptions to vaccines with Senator Chris McDaniel on Wednesday, March 9th.

The government should never have the power to violate our inalienable right to exercise our deeply held convictions, given to us by God, guaranteed by the Constitution and Mississippi’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 2014.

I realize there was a cost associated with your bold stand and am deeply grateful for your moral courage.

DON’T LET HIM KILL RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS AND MANDATE BANS!

URGENT ACTION NEEDED NOW AND THROUGHOUT THE WEEK!

It’s simple. Do it, then share it widely:

The Message:
“Please tell Hosemann to pass HB1509. Urge him to assign it to committee and pass it , without delay!”

ALSO KEEP CALLING YOUR OWN SENATORS!

We are far from done fighting!
This is a marathon battle, and we need every one of you to stay with us and keep up the great work!

MORE DETAILED INFO FOR OUR ACTIVISTS:

– See the history of HB1509 and download the text here: HB1509

– HB1509 passed the house floor, then was transmitted to the senate on 1/31.
To see the story behind this bill and how Speaker Gunn co-opted our efforts with a Frankenstein bill, click here: MaryJo Perry on The Stew Peters Show

– After getting a massive number of calls, a petition from the people with over 12k names gathered in 5 days, and pressure applied from the senate, Hosemann then said he was in favor of HB1509 and expected to see it pass.

Hosemann’s statement 2/2/22 to Yall Politics:

“I know preventing Covid-19 vaccine mandates is a very important issue for citizens in Mississippi. I support bringing House Bill 1509, which prevents Covid-19 mandates and has already passed the House floor, to a vote in the Senate and I anticipate it will receive a favorable response.”

– HB1509, as it is, shortchanges Mississippians:

1.) It does NOT protect our children from covid vaccines being mandated for public and private daycare and school. (See lines 22 and 46 of the bill)
2.) It will not cover healthcare institutions that get state funding. Healthcare facilities are exempt from the entire act, including the religious exemption clause, at a time when it would violate “regulations or guidance” of CMMS or CDC. (See lines 71-75)
3.) It does not provide protection from religious discrimination in the form of refusal of service by private businesses, including private schools. Private school children and staff may still be mandated to take the covid vaccine with no provision for religious exemptions for students.
4.) There is no penalty for businesses and entities that violate the act.

– Here is what the bill does:

1.) Prohibits mandates by entities which receive state tax dollars for employment, services, and access to public spaces.
2.) It mandates that a religious exemption to Covid-19 vaccines must be respected by public and private entities for employment only.

We are not done working on getting better language into HB1509.

We believe that all Mississippians deserve a religious exemption to any vaccine whether they are 1 day old or 120.

Let’s get this done!

2/2/22
SB2107 – K-12 Religious Exemption KILLED by Lt Governor Hosemann and his DEMOCRAT appointee to the Public Health Committee, Chairman Hob Bryan
BUT WE ARE NOT DONE!

Dear Team,

On Tuesday, February 1, we delivered over 12,000 petitions to Lt Governor Hosemann and Chairman Hob Bryan. Your signatures on the petition for a K-12 religious exemption to vaccines was almost 250 pages, 28 of which were Rankin County!!! Rankin County led the state with just under 1500 signatures, with Madison and Desoto coming in second and third!

When the petitions were delivered to the office of Chairman Bryan, I had to step out and get a pen to sign my name to the cover letter. When I walked in the office lobby, I witnessed Chairman Bryan’s assistant fanning through the pages of our petition and either taking pictures or videoing the massive stack of names. I feel sure she didn’t realize I was watching her. I am not sure if maybe she was sending to Chairman Bryan or what her intentions were.

We sent a press release to over 160 media contacts that we would be delivering the over 12,000 petitions but didn’t get any coverage.

It is also interesting to note that there was to be one last Public Health Committee meeting scheduled at 3pm. The Senate Schedule showed that they had a list of significant bills they were to discuss and pass. However, for a reason we are uncertain of, it was canceled with no explanation, and even committee members were confused as to why it was canceled. Perhaps Chairman Bryan had some sort of emergency, or perhaps he was avoiding meeting those of us delivering the petition signatures.

So, at this point, the only vehicle we have left to get some things done is Speaker Gunn’s HB1509 which has been passed on to the senate. While we are pleased that Speaker Gunn has realized and taken action on some semblance of a religious exemption, it is weak legislation that appears to do something, but ultimately doesn’t do as much as a Mississippian would hope.

Most bills don’t leave the Senate without changes, so hopefully one of our legislators will go to bat for you to tighten up the language a bit more to protect you and your family.

We can breathe for the moment, but everyone should refuel, pray up and get ready for round 2. We appreciate all of your hard work and just want to see Mississippi a better place for all of our families.

UPDATE AND ACTION FOR THE WEEKEND:
We Are Celebrating Success, While Also A Bit Frustrated; Action Steps For The Weekend

The Whirlwind in the House on Thursday
(SCROLL DOWN TO SKIP TO WKEND ACTION STEPS)

MPVR leaders have spent the day consulting with the best political and vaccine law experts, we have prayed and are ready with a plan, moving forward. We know you are all battle fatigued, as you have fought valiantly this week! We are exhausted!

For those who missed or are unclear about the whirlwind in the house yesterday, here is our synopsis.

Your voices were heard. YOUR ACTION put immense pressure on house leadership. YOU made it cool to support the free exercise of religion in vaccine decision-making. You are the majority and you have spoken! They were compelled to do something.

And so they did. Speaker Gunn came up with a last minute bill, HB1509. He rammed it through the Public Health Committee, then passed it on the house floor all in the course of a few hours. It’s important to note that he is planning a run for governor in 2023.

Gunn’s bill codifies a religious exemption to the Covid-19 vaccine for public and private employers. If this should pass, we will be one of a small handful of states that has written these protections into the law for Covid-19 vaccines, putting us in the top 10 states in the country for Covid-19 vaccine mandate protections.

THAT is a WIN for MPVR! Congratulate yourselves for all of your hard work!

It is paying off!

There is no denying that we are a bit frustrated.

We worked hard with Rep Eubanks and NVIC to craft a great bill that would ban passports and mandates for Mississippians in Eubanks HB1454. Then out of nowhere, Speaker Gunn swoops in and hijacks our hard work with his own bill at the eleventh hour. He added a religious exemption to the Covid-19 vaccine for public and private employees in order to negotiate the support of our bill author and champions at The Mississippi Freedom Caucus.

Other than the religious exemption, Speaker Gunn’s HB1509 is not a great bill. However, we simply cannot ignore the huge success of the religious exemption!

Here are some ways that Speaker Gunn’s bill falls short:

1.) It does not provide protection from mandates by private businesses, including private schools.
2.) It does not provide a penalty for businesses and entities that violate the act.
3.) Healthcare facilities are exempt from the entire act, including the religious exemption clause, at a time when it would violate “regulations or guidance” of CMMS or CDC. That is pretty much the status quo

Here are the good things the bill accomplishes:

1.) Prohibits mandates by government entities (those which receive tax dollars) for employment, services, and access to public spaces.
2.) The act applies to “municipalities and political subdivisions” which prohibits Covid-19 vaccine mandates for public school teachers.
3.) It mandates that a religious exemption to Covid-19 vaccines be respected by public and private entities for employment as well as services.

——————–

We are not done working on getting better language into HB1509. We are crafting an amendment to improve on the bill in the senate and have chosen an amendment author.

While we don’t need to give house leadership credit for co-opting our hard work with a weaker bill, WE ARE VERY HAPPY ABOUT THE VICTORY FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IN VACCINE DECISION-MAKING, and that is 100% because of the work of the families of MPVR.

ACTION ALERT

Senator Angela Hill’s SB 2107 : School Vaccinations; authorize exemption upon objection of parent on religious grounds was referred to the Public Health and Welfare Committee.

REMEMBER
Our legislature has given our State Health Officer, Dr. Thomas Dobbs, the power to add the COVID-19 vaccine, or any other vaccine, to our children’s required schedule with the stroke of a pen. A baby in MS already is required to have 21 doses of vaccines by just 6 months to attend daycare, BY LAW.

Continue Friday’s call to action to Speaker Philip Gunn

Many were not able to get through on Friday, due to heavy call volume. Please continue calling and sharing today!

Politely urge Speaker Gunn to IMMEDIATELY assign Representative Eubanks’ bill to ban vaccine passports and mandates:

to a SINGLE committee where it has a chance to pass
AND
without delay so it has time to be considered before the deadline, Feb. 1st.

Leave your name and phone number

Speaker Gunn:
601.359.3300
pg15@house.ms.gov

If you have lost your job or have otherwise been affected by vaccine mandates, please ask them to note that for him.

Please make note and let us know if any capitol staff is rude or tries to sway your stance. That is grounds for their termination. You can send us their name and details at mpvrpac@protonmail.com

PLEASE SHARE THIS URL WIDELY!

Urgent Call To Action | January 21, 2022

IMMEDIATELY CALL, THEN EMAIL, SPEAKER PHILIP GUNN TODAY

UPDATED 1/21/22 9:35 AM
CLARIFICATION:
A bill that has not yet been assigned DOES NOT HAVE A NUMBER.
Gunn has not given this bill a number nor has he assigned it to a committee. That is the purpose of this call to action. Gunn has been known to stall the assignment of medical freedom bills so there is no time to bring them up to be heard in committee before the deadline.

Once a bill is assigned a number, then everyone can read and decide if they support it. THIS IS A MASSIVE COVID VACCINE PASSPORT AND MANDATE BAN! The people of Mississippi are going to love it!

This bill is not to be confused with Eubanks’ other bill, HB759, that was posted on Telegram. This is a completely different and much stronger bill.

POLITELY URGE SPEAKER GUNN TO ASSIGN REPRESENTATIVE EUBANKS VACCINE PASSPORT BILL

to a SINGLE committee where it has a chance to pass
AND
without delay so it has time to be considered before the deadline, Feb. 1st.

Leave your name and phone number

Speaker Gunn:
601.359.3300
pg15@house.ms.gov

If you have lost your job or have otherwise been affected by vaccine mandates, please ask them to note that for him.

3/8/22
URGENT! TOMORROW 3/9 IS DIE DAY!

IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS,
HB1509 for a vaccine mandate ban and religious exemption is dead!

We cannot let up! We’re in the home stretch!

TELL LT GOV HOSEMANN, AGAIN:
PASS the McDaniel Amendment to HB1509 to expand religious liberty for Mississippi!”
